A big welcome to everyone who registered for our Steeltown Showdown 4 Nations Cup Pick'em Pool! We're excited to have you all participate in this pool and compete for the $1015 prize!

We'll be posting updated pool results the day after each 4 Nations Cup game on the Steeltown Showdown website under the "4 Nations Cup Pool" tab: https://steeltownshowdown.grayjayleagues.com/

For official stats, we will be defaulting to NHL.com.

Here's a breakdown of the scoring rules to ensure everyone is on the same page:

Scoring System:

Points will be awarded based on actual player performance in the 4 Nations Cup:

• Forwards:
  • Goal: 1 point
  • Assist: 1 point
  • Hat Trick Bonus: 1 additional point
• Defensemen:
  • Goal: 1 point
  • Assist: 1 point
  • Plus/Minus: 0.1 points (positive only)
• Goalies:
  • Win: 2 points
  • Shutout: 3 points
  • Save: 0.05 points
  • Goals Against: -0.1 points

Tie-Breaker (If Necessary):

In case of a tie in total points at the end of the tournament, the following tie-breakers will be used in order:

1. Most total goals scored by picked forwards.
2. Fewest total goals against by picked goalies.
3. Coin flip (if necessary).

How It Works:

• Scoring: Points will be awarded based on actual player performance in the tournament - see scoring system below
• Submission: Submit and edit your picks up to before the start of the first game of the 4 Nations Cup Tournament, Wednesday, February 12, 2025.
• Standings: Standings will be updated and distributed via email and posted on the Steeltown Showdown website regularly.
• Tie-Breaker: In case of ties, tie-breakers will be used.

Pool Details:

• Cost: $10 per pool entry.
• Prizes: Half of the total pool value will be distributed to the winner(s) up to a maximum $4000 prize.

We've had a minor adjustment to the start times for the final two round robin games on Saturday. 

• The County Islanders game against Truro Bearcats will now start at 5:00 PM on Membertou BMO rink.
• The Cape Breton West Islanders game against the Antigonish Bulldogs will now start at 6:15 PM at the Membertou BMO rink.

Please make a note of these new times to avoid any confusion on Saturday.

• Pre-ordered Headshot Package - $20: Includes a close-up headshot of your player and a full-body off-ice image. Family photos are also welcome in this package!

• Pre-ordered In-Game Team Photos - $150: Capture the whole team in action! This package includes approximately 5 photos of each player (ice time may be a factor).

The Steeltown Showdown Skills Competition is just around the corner! Get ready to witness some incredible displays of talent as every player (that's 15 skaters and 2 goalies) from each team will be showcasing their skills in at least one of our exciting events.

Here's a rundown of what's in store at Steeltown Showdown Skills Competition on Sunday, February 16th from 6-8pm at Membertou Sport & Wellness Centre:

• Fastest Skater: Who's got the speed? Two players from each team will race for the title!
• Hardest Shot: Feel the power! Two players from each team will unleash their hardest shots.
• Shootout Challenge: One player and one goalie from each team will face off in this thrilling showdown.
• Accurate Shot: Precision is key! Two players from each team will test their shooting accuracy.
• Passing Challenge: Teamwork makes the dream work! Two players from each team will demonstrate their passing skills.
• Agility Puck Control Relay: Agility and puck handling skills will be on full display as four players from each team navigate the course.
• 3 Puck Breakaway Relay: A high-octane event featuring two players and one goalie from each team.

Individual awards await the winners of each event, and the team with the highest overall score will take home the coveted Team Award & Trophy.
